Ocean Springs Municipal Court

The Ocean Springs Municipal Court handles cases arising from alleged violations of city ordinances, traffic laws, and state misdemeanor statutes occurring within the city limits of Ocean Springs, Mississippi.

What the Municipal Court Handles

The Ocean Springs Municipal Court has jurisdiction over:

Misdemeanor criminal offenses occurring within city limits
Municipal ordinance violations
Traffic violations
Civil domestic protective orders
Juvenile traffic offenses, including DUI charges against juveniles
Liquor and tobacco violations involving juveniles
Cases involving juveniles who have been certified as adults or previously arrested as adults

The Municipal Court does not have jurisdiction over felony offenses. Cases involving felony charges are prosecuted through the District Attorney’s office of the 19th Judicial Circuit Court. Appeals from Municipal Court go to the Jackson County Court.

Court Schedule

Traffic arraignments and pleas are held at the clerk’s window on Wednesdays. The Court Clerk’s office is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Payments are accepted until 4:30 p.m. each day.

Paying Fines

Fines and fees can be paid in person at the clerk’s office or online. The court does not accept personal checks. A 24-hour drop box is available in the back lobby of the Ocean Springs Police Department for after-hours payments. Use the envelopes provided and complete all required information on the envelope.

If a balance remains unpaid for 90 days, the account may be sent to a collection agency. Once sent to collections, the Municipal Court cannot accept payment directly.
